Licensing terms and updates

ASTER Pro-X

For 2 - 6 Workplaces

ASTER Pro-X license - a perpetual license where X is the number of seats:

  • The license is perpetual license.
  • You can increase the number of seats by activating additional Pro-X licenses but no more than 12 seats on one PC (see details below).
  • License is transferable to other equipment after deactivation.
  • Activation or transfer to another PC can only be done as a whole - partial activation on multiple computers is not supported.

ASTER Annual-X

For 2 - 6 Workplaces

ASTER Annual-X license - a license valid for 1 year, where X is the number of seats:

  • It is an annual subscription. meaning that to continue using it after the expiration of 1 year, a new Pro or Annual-X license needs to be purchased and activated.
  • You can increase the number of seats by activating additional Annual-X licenses but no more than 12 seats on one PC (see details below).
  • License is transferable to other equipment after deactivation.
  • Activation or transfer to another PC can only be done as a whole - partial activation on multiple computers is not supported.
  • This type of license is only supported on version ASTER 2.51 and newer.

How to choose a license

2 Workplaces

If you do not plan to use ASTER for more than 3 year or change the process/hard disk within the next year, then we recommend Home license, otherwise purchase Pro-2 license.

  • The home license is an annual subscription license and it can not be transferred to another computer. And, if you renew it or change to Pro-2 license, you do not get any discounts.

3 Workplaces

For 3 workplaces, you need 2 license - Pro-2 and Pro 1: You need to activate the Pro-2 license first in ASTER then activate Pro-1 so that you get total of 3 workplaces.

4-6 Worplaces

For 4-6 workplaces, you need 2-3 Pro-2 licenses (the number of workplaces is added when you activate multiple licenses on same computer) or one Pro-6 license. Please note that the cost of one Pro-6 license is almost equal to cost of two Pro-2 licenses.

7-12 Workplaces

You will need 4-6 Pro-2 licenses (depending on the number of workplaces you want to add when activating the license on one system) or 1-2 Pro-6 licenses. Please note that the cost of one Pro-6 license is almost equal to the cost of two Pro-2 licenses.

  • When you have many workplaces from one computer, it will put more load on the system, before adding more workplaces, please read Recommendations for selecting hardware.

How to new the update

  • For ASTER Pro-2 or Pro-6 license, you receive free program updates for 1 year for free from the date of activation. After 1 year has passed, to receive the update further, users need to purchase a special license to extend the update period.
  • Home license is an annual license, i.e. after a year of use, you will have to purchase a new license to continue using ASTER.
  • Product update is carried out by technology that allows without additional costs to download and install updates without needing technical specialists.
  • Its recommended to disable ASTER before updating to new versions.

Transfer of license, reactivation

1. The new ASTER version allows for deactivating the license, for example, for transferring to the other hardware. Below are listed the events when you have to perform deactivation on which completion the current keys become invalid and you will obtain new ones instead:

  • Transfer of the ASTER license to the other computer.
  • CPU replacement.
  • Replacement of the hard disk with Windows where ASTER is installed.
  • Transfer of Windows from one hard disk to another.
  • Rejection of the product and request to refund money.

In other events of the change of equipment (for example, addition/replacement of network cards, memory upgrade, etc.), deactivation is not needed.

In case of an unforeseen replacement of HDD or CPU (as a result of failure thereof), you have to contact the support team and submit the technical report and ASTER activation codes which have been used on this computer.

If several ASTER licenses have been activated on a single PC (for example, through error) you may select the ones you wish to deactivate.

The deactivation procedure is applicable only for Pro license, HOME license cannot be deactivated.

2. Software reactivation in cases when deactivation is not required (for example, after reinstallation of operating system on the same HDD) may be carried out as many times as you wish using the available key (i.e. the same as during the first ASTER installation).

How to switch to another license

You can not upgrade your ASTER Home License to ASTER Pro-2 or Pro-2 license.

ASTER Pro-2 and Pro-6 license allows you to add more workplaces using Pro-1 license.
